WELCOME FELLOW CRAFTERS!
As much as I wanted to dedicate this week to working on a 21st birthday album for my daughter, life got in the way. Today I am sharing a quick Sympathy card that I created earlier this week, well.. because I needed it.
Earlier this year I had splurged and bought a collection of stamps from the core catalog, just because I liked them. This card features a set called Angel Hugs.
When I first got the stamp set I had stamped 4 or 5 of the standing angels and 4 or 5 of the kneeling angel then tucked them inside the envolope with the stamp set so I would have them ready if I needed them. So I pulled one out and colored it.
I used the Ice Grey TriBlend™ Marker to outline the angel's robe and wings. I used both the Pale Pink TriBlend™ Marker and the Fair Skin TriBlend™ Marker to color the angels face and hands. I have to admit this might sound crazy but I used both the Pale Pink TriBlend™ Marker and the Earth Brown TriBlend™ Marker to color the angel's hair. I wanted both the angels face and hair to look like the sun was shining on them from the left. I was hoping using the pale pink for shading would help give that effect. When I colored the angel above I used the Lavender TriBlend™ Marker for the flowers. The final step of coloring was using the Clear Shimmer Brush to add sparkle to the angels wings.
I wanted to make an "off the edge" card so I cut the front of the card base removing 1 3/4 inch.
I pulled a scrap out of my scrap bag and adhered it to the front of the card base then added the strip of shimmer trim on the right.
After finished the card base, I cut the remainder of the piece I cut off the card base to 4 1/2 inches tall. I matted the white rectangle and then decided that I didn't like the purple flowers so I colored a new angel with blue flowers before adhering the angel to the front of the cards.
Lesson learned, pick out your scrap pieces before coloring the adornment so everything matches.
I was really happy with the way this card turned out. That said I didn't have time to make any extra sympathy cards but it feels good knowing I can just grab my bag of scraps and quickly make a pretty card whenever I might need one.
Check back tomorrow to see what the fall winds have blown onto my craft table.
